What Made This Case Significant
This case demonstrated the full digital workflow in action: from CT data acquisition through virtual planning and simulation, to the fabrication of a custom titanium implant on the Renishaw AM500 metal printer, and finally to a successful surgical outcome.
Virtual Surgical Planning removes the uncertainty that comes with intraoperative improvisation. When the surgical team has already rehearsed the procedure digitally, confirmed fit on a 3D printed anatomical model, and received the precisely manufactured implant before entering theatre — every step is deliberate and prepared.
